  Philadelphia Flower Show 2009

Wayne Woods Garden Club was well represented at the Philadelphia Flower Show in 2009. Several members served as Horticultural Barrier Aides while Edie Chapman served as a Special Panel Rosetta Awards Judge for the Cactus Society.  “Flower” won the Blue Ribbon for best Animal Kingdom Topiary for the second year in a row. Nancy Bruhns, creator of this darling dachshund, won several ribbons for her other horticultural entries as well. Gwen Puglisi won a Blue Ribbon for her beautiful niche entitled “A Night in Venice”. Members of the Design Committee earned an Honorable Mention for their entry in the Passerella Fashion Runway Class with their creative interpretation of a dress designed by Neel El Sharif, a student at Moore College of Art and Design.

  Flower Show at Longwood Gardens

Wayne Woods Garden Club had a unique opportunity to exhibit in a Standard Flower Show at Longwood Gardens with fellow gardeners from four other local garden clubs. The theme was "Flashback and Fast Forward". It was an outstanding flower show and our 20 club members who participated were thrilled to be a part of it. Congratulations to Cathy Siple, Doris Petty, Edie Chapman, Gwen Puglisi, Thea Farrow, Nancy Bruhns, Mary Lord, Kathy Liberato and Marjorie Thomson for their award winning entries! Our club won a total of 56 prizes including 19 first place, 10 second place, 11 third place and 16 Honorable Mention ribbons. Below is a photo of Mexican Sunflowers Tithonia grown by Nancy Bruhns who won the Award of Merit and the Award of Horticultural Excellence.  Please see our Longwood Gardens page for other pictures and descriptions of some of our entries.Members of Wayne Woods Garden Club served behind the scenes to help prepare for the opening day of the 2010 Philadelphia Flower Show.
